As some of you may know, Disney-Pixar is the biggest influence in my choice of course. I grew up singing along to Hercules, Mulan and Tarzan, and watching Toy Story after school. It has always been a dream of mine to work at one of their studios as a visual artist.
Today, I watched Cars 2 with my mom and little sister. I was full anticipation as I entered the cinema, sat down and put the 3D glasses on. But everything changed as the credits rolled. I foundĀ nothing special about this film, unlike the other animated films of Disney-Pixar (mind you, I’ve watched everything) wherein you’ll get this really overwhelming feeling after the film. It has the least appealing storyline I’ve ever seen for something animated. The scenes were too… violent for kids. It is visually appealing, just like any other Disney-Pixar films, but that doesn’t change the fact the plot is too flat (for the lack of words).
And according to my research, Cars 2 only got 37% positive review from Rotten Tomatoes, considering that all their other films (aside from Cars, which got 74%) range from 91%-100%.
One a somewhat related note, my mom scolded my eight-year-old sister because she wanted to buy new toys and my mom says she’s too big for those. I’m sixteen and my parents still agree on buying me toy cars and action figures when I ask them to. (I never take them out of their boxes, though.)
